About Apprenticeship
The
decision to become an apprentice is a career move that is
filled with unlimited growth potential. Apprenticeship is
often thought of only in terms of being a Carpenter, Construction
Worker or a Mechanic. But apprenticeship also covers jobs
such as Radio and Television Service Technicians, Hairstylists,
Chefs and Aircraft Mechanics. Right now the apprentice Industry
is understaffed with young, skilled workers who have received
training to become Machinists, Tool and Die Workers and Trucking
Mechanics. These areas have become so understaffed that companies
are offering big bucks to workers skilled in these areas.
LITTLE
KNOWN FACT

tradesmen in Ontario are 50 years of age or older
TRANSLATION

of skilled tradesmen are growing closer to retirement, this
means that there will be a lot of available jobs opening up
in the near future.
NOT ONLY FOR THE GUYS
Becoming
an apprentice in a non-traditional job such as construction
or industrial is an attractive option for young women. If
you have the ability to do the work there's no reason why
you shouldn't go after the satisfaction of receiving the same
high rate of pay.
BONUS 'EARN 'N LEARN'
While
you are an apprentice you will receive a wage (minimum in
some cases) for the work you have done. Your pay will increase
when you receive certification.
If
you are the type of person who likes to learn
in a "hands on" environment, apprenticeship might be for you.
