Personal Portfolio

What is a personal portfolio?

It is a collection of materials/information compiled to show a collective history of his/her creative endeavours. A personal portfolio can be used as a tool while looking for employment or when applying to post secondary education (College/University). It is a way of showing the viewer what you have accomplished in a creative format.

Format?

Personal portfolio's can be compiled either in a bound format or digitally. If possible it is a good idea to create portfolios in both formats. Digital folio's can be accessed immediately by the sender.

Steps to creating a portfolio

  • Gather your information
  • Organize the information that you would like to display
  • Assemble your information, if you have created a blog decide if including it will enhance your portfolio
  • Decide on the Separators/Headings for your portfolio
  • Display it in a format that reflects your personal style

A portfolio should be something that gives the viewer an idea of who you are outside of looking at your resume and/or employment history. It is something that you should be proud of. Take your time, include items that you are proud of that speak to where you are headed in your school or employment career.
